INTERNATIONAL NAIL ART CONTEST

I’m hosting my very first Nail Art Contest—but it’s like no other!

Since I create tutorials, doesn’t it make sense that my contest should be tutorials? Smart, huh?  :D

I’ve created tutorial videos to help you learn how to create a step-by-step photo nail art tutorial in the free program, Picasa, if you’re not familiar with photo editing software.

It’s a Nail Art Tutorial Contest! 

THEME

SIMPLE DOTTING TOOL NAIL ART TUTORIAL

The theme is “Simple Dotting Tools” and you will create a photo tutorial showing all the steps to your manicure. 

The design does not have to be only dots, but the design does have to be completed with only dotting tools and polish brushes.

Every step needs to be photographed clearly, cropped and arranged in photo-editing software, and saved as a composite tutorial photo. You will need to include a written step-by-step tutorial to compliment your photo.

THE RULES

• You may enter as many photo tutorials as you like.
   
• You must do these designs on your own nails, artificial or natural (no nail wheels, please). 
   
• Your design must be your own idea.
   
• You may use only dotting tools, homemade or commercial, and the brushes that are included with the polish bottles.
   
• Only nail polish and acrylic paints only are allowed (any brand). 
   
• Pictures must be clear, well lit, and in focus. Entries with blurry pictures will be disqualified.
   
• Step-by-step photos must only include one finger.
   
• The composite image must have a single or double hand photo showing off the completed manicure.
   
• You must submit your designs by email (SimpleNailArtTips@gmail.com) to me.

• This contest is open internationally. 

• I will be mailing the prize and I will pay for shipping.

JUDGING

• Submissions will be posted on my webpage, SimpleNailArtTips.com, and will be judged by your peers for creativity, color combinations, originality, and execution. 
   
• The photo with the most comments by unique users will win. 
   
• People may vote one time with one comment. 
   
• Multiple comments by a single person or ISP address will be eliminated.
   
• Yes, you may vote for yourself!

HOW TO SUBMIT

• Get inspired, and then do your nails! 
   
• Take photos of your nails at each step with a quality camera.
   
• Using Picasa, Photoshop or other photo editing program, crop your photographs and arrange them in step-by-step order. 
   
• Save composite tutorial photograph at 300 dpi (dots per inch) OR saved at 1600 pixels in Picasa.
   
• You may include your watermark, but it must be subtle and not detract from the photo.

 

VOTING

• Upload and post your photo on your personal Facebook page, your Facebook fan page, your website, or anywhere else on Friday, September 21st after 6pm PST. 
   
• Do Not post your photo any earlier than Friday, September 21st 6pm PST. Entries won’t be posted on SimpleNailArtTips.com for voting until this time anyway.
   
• Encourage your friends to vote for you with one comment under your photo. Voting will end at Sunday Sept. 30th 6pm PST. The photo with the most comments by the deadline will win the prize.

YOUR EMAIL ENTRY MUST INCLUDE:

1. Your composite image saved at 1600 pixels in Picasa or other photo editing software. 

The minimum size is 600 pixels wide (length doesn’t matter). 
Any photo smaller than 600 pixels wide will be disqualified. 
To check the size of your image, upload it for free to PicResize.com

1. Step-by-step written instructions including the tools you used and the polish brands with their color names.
2. Your name, email and mailing address. 
3. Your statement giving me permission to post your photo on my webpage and use it in any products I create in the future.
4. The exact blog webpage address if you have posted your entry on your blog.
